Anne Dolan

Professor Anne Dolan is an associate professor of modern Irish history at Trinity College Dublin. Her research has examined various dimensions of modern Irish history including work on the examination of violence and killing throughout the revolutionary period in Ireland. She is particularly interested in the consequences of violence at a political and at a personal level and in placing the Irish experience in a wider context. This work stems from a broader interest in the nature of the two states in Ireland in the inter-war period. Her publications include Commemorating the Irish Civil War: history and memory 1923-2000 (Cambridge, 2003). She is joint editor of 'No surrender here! The Civil War papers of Ernie O'Malley' (Dublin, 2007). She co-wrote Michael Collins: the man and the revolution (Cork, 2018) with William Murphy.
