D T Murphy wanted to pursue journalism when he finished secondary (high) school but did not have sufficient grades in the Irish Language, which were compulsory at the time. Instead, he opted for something completely different, studying electronics which led him into the computer business. His work took him to the Far East and to mainland Europe where he cultivated an interest in the history of the countries he traveled to and their peoples. Later, he participated in various studies in creative writing notably University College Dublin, the Irish Writers Centre, and Curtis Brown Creative. Today, he works full time as a writer and his books are driven by further research into the times past of the societies, people and places where they are set. Source: Commons
