Debbie Thomas
With half a degree in medicine and a whole one in geology, Debbie Thomas followed the obvious path into BBC radio journalism. After several years of interviewing opera singing parrots and politicians - and sometimes confusing the two - she moved to Bangladesh then South Africa, where she worked as a development journalist and very nearly went shark diving. She now lives near Dublin with her husband and three daughters where she writes for children; runs creative writing classes, and works for Nepal Leprosy Trust, a charity supporting leprosy-affected people in Nepal.
