John Cuffe, originally from Blacksod Bay in the Mayo Gaeltacht, Prior to becoming a prison officer, John worked as a chef and a lighthouse keeper. He spent thirty years in the Irish prison service, working in Mountjoy, Portlaoise, Arbour Hill, and Spike Island. He is now retired and lives in County Meath.
