Louise East started her writing career as a staff journalist at the Irish Times in Dublin. During her years there, she wrote a weekly column, reviewed restaurants, interviewed a wide range of people (V.S. Naipaul, Margaret Atwood, Jamie Oliver, Nathalie Portman) and wrote in-depth profile pieces. As assistant editor, she was part of the team who developed the Irish Times Magazine, commissioning journalists, editing and sub-editing copy as well as writing weekly features. After completing an MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia, she moved to Berlin (via London) where she continues to write, edit, and translate (German to English). In addition to the Irish Times and The Berliner Magazine (author profile), her writing has appeared in Image Magazine, The Dublin Review, The Evening Standard, Irish Theatre Magazine, Food Illustrated, High Life, Cara Magazine. She lives in Kreuzberg with her partner and two sons.
