Richard Balls is the author of three books: A Furious Devotion: The Life of Shane MacGowan, Be Stiff: The Stiff Records Story, and Sex & Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll: The Life of Ian Dury. He was a news journalist for 20 years, starting his career with local papers in London before moving to Dublin, where he wrote for a range of national papers including the Sunday Press, Sunday Times and Irish Times. In 1999 he joined the Eastern Daily Press and was appointed news editor of the Norwich Evening News before moving into communications. He lives in Norwich with his wife and two daughters.
