Bill Whelan

Bill Whelan is an Irish musician and music composer, arranger, producer, and pianist He grew up in Limerick where he was a pupil at Crescent College. He studied law at University College Dublin from where he graduated in 1973, followed by further studies at King’s Inn. Whelan is best known for composing the Riverdance, which was first show-cased at the interval in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994. He is the recipient of many awards, including the UCD Foundation Day Medal, awarded for his contribution to the promotion of Irish music to a worldwide audience.
