Gary Rutherford

Gary Rutherford is a public servant at the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery & Reform. He joined the Department in July 2023 after four years with the Dept of Social Protection. His career has been marked by several pioneering roles; as Ireland's first Second level school SNA and as Young Carers Development Co-ordinator. He has been self-employed for extended periods in his career, where he has worked in a number of other sectors including the taxi and courier industries; as Company Secretary, office manager and Director dealing with all aspects of a small growing business. Gary has researched the life and times of Peadar McNulty-Irish Volunteer 1913-23, 1916 Rising Veteran. He has transcribed McNulty’s journal and chronologies of the events including a full detailed operational account of the 1919 Collinstown Aerodrome Raid. Gary is related to Peadar McNulty through marriage.
